DC released this supposedly it’s all of Pandora’s appearances in the New 52 #1’s from her perspective.

Pandora must have powers like a Kryptonian.

In Action #1, Superman is stuck up against the nose of the bullet train that’s out of control.  X-ray vision?  Not the pose displayed on the wall for t-shirt Superman. Pandora is on the train with Lois.

In Superman #1, Pandora again appears where Lois is, not where Superman can be see.  This is the celebration of the new Daily Planet inside a ballroom.  Lois’ promotion was announced by Morgan Edge.  Clark is absent and Lois remarks on it to Perry.  Superman is outside flying above the rubble of the old DP.

So Pandora can see through walls — or DC screwed up again?

Jim Lee CBS interview 5/3/13 re: Superman

 Excerpts, not verbatim

How do the big movies help the comic book industry?
Definitely shows what these characters are capable of doing. It brings new fans into the art form. A lot of people come in through the games, or the cartoons or the movies. People don’t even know they’re even being published and they’re very happy to realize that we are still publishing the stuff. The stories are the source material for the these great incarnations and adaptations of the characters and that’s where the magic really starts.

Tell us about Superman Unchained:
It’s a new comic book that’s coming out in June. It’s a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the character. It’s being written by Scott Snyder and drawn by myself. And if there were one Superman story we could tell, this is it. It really picks up on all the high points of the character. So we have all the classic moments between Superman and Lex Luthor. Superman and Lois Lane. And it really is a celebration of all the things that makes Superman so inspirational and a really cool character.

How big do you think the movies is going to be?
It is an amazing movie. I have seen it. I’m an Executive at Warner Brothers so I got to see it in advance. It’s one of the perks. It’s an amazing movie. It’s epic. It’s got a lot of heart. But one of the things I was missing from the last Superman movie was the action. This movie as it in spades. It’s a visual thrill ride. It is amazing. You see all the powers of Superman in all its glory. I think people are going to be blown away.

So people going to see the Man of Steel movie in June, they come out of that and want more. THey need to know what comic they can dive in.

Superman Unchained would be a good starting point. Action Comics we publish and has been in publication since 1938. Superman and there are all these great these great graphic novels. There’s really something for everyone from little kids 5 years old to people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

You drew the famous kiss between Superman and Wonder Woman.
Yes, you did your research.  (2nd variant cover shows up in background)

Are we predicting a nasty custody settlement, er, how are things going to work out for these kids?
Well, you know when you publish a character for 75 years you gotta keep it young and fresh so it’s not about Superman and Lois today. It’s Superman and Wonder Woman. And that’s really rubbed a lot of purists the wrong way, but we love the controversy. We love the debate. We love the fact that people have either sided with TeamLois or TeamWonderWoman and it’s one of the things we used to keep interest in what we’re publishing in the books today.

If it doesn’t work out with Superman … Batman’s got lots of money?
Superman with Batman? is that what you’re saying?

No! For Wonder Woman!
Right. Absolutely. Yes. Yes.

______________________________________

So are you as confused as I am on what’s going on here.  Obviously Free Comic Book day and the Superman Celebration with Superman Unchained announcement.  That’s great!

But if movies (cartoons and games) bring in more readers, and you’ve got this amazing film with heart and action (involving Lois Lane) then why push Superman and Wonder Woman in the comic books — for the controversy?  Taking Lois away from Clark is young and fresh?   And if things don’t work out with Superman, yea, just give Wonder Woman to Batman.  He’s got money.

But he recommends Superman Unchained as a great start to get into the comics and it has Superman and Lois.  Uh, yea.  But then says it’s all about Superman and Wonder Woman in the comics.  And ‘purists’ have been rubbed the wrong way.  YA THINK???  How does that affect sales?

Lee is definitely getting all the mileage he can from those kiss covers.  Yea, like that wasn’t a planted question.

Superman is not Twilight.  And if this is the new 52 version of the Silver Age, forget about it!  Superdickery should be buried like toxic waste not revived.

And what about Wonder Woman — is it really about who she snogs?  Absolutely???  Diana deserves better than that.  And I’m of the belief when Azzarello found out from Dan Didio what they were going to do with Wonder Woman.  His spontaneous pitch was done so in order to save the character.  The fauxmance is not in her book and Superman has never been mentioned.  Steve Trevor has been mentioned.  Orion is there for a future New Gods story, one would think.

And with Steve Trevor back and better than ever, surely fans should be seeing some of that relationship developing further than it did in Justice League 12.

Diana has her own mythology to develop.  Not being the go-to-girl for a date within the Justice League.

Maybe ‘purists’ are rubbed the wrong way because they love and understand these characters as well as their mythologies — making them less than what they always have been in the hearts and minds OF THEIR READERS! is a bad business move.

And, yes, losing money in a big corporation is controversial.

For those who have read my fics, I finished HIS KIND OF WOMAN today.  You can find on Red Haze and Kryptonsite.   Hope you enjoy.  :D

I plan on finishing my other fics, as well, since the muse seems engaged at the moment.  Some will take longer than others.  I appreciate your patience.

Have fun!

um am i reading this correctly? did jonathan say that clark was moving into his and lois's new flat?

You have to remember that everyone has been mind whammied by Hammond.  Hidden thoughts and dreams come to the forefront.  Jonathan wondering if Clark was moving into their spare room (since he’s currently not writing or officially employed) and Clark saying ‘eventually sure’ was awesome.  To me it means Jonathan knows that Clark is already the third person in the room when Jon is alone with Lois.  She talked Clark up to him in Superman #1.  Clark and Lois are ‘best friends’ with a special bond obviously. Clark fantasizes about Lois meeting him at the door ‘super’ with a kiss and dinner ready.  His real date is already inside, but it’s Lois he’s thinking about and is excited to see.  To have Jonathan recognize that Clark and Lois have this special relationship, makes me wonder when Diana will catch on.  Maybe after she is no longer mind whammied?

If Clark isn’t blogging (Cat seems more into it than he is) then how is he going to pay the rent?  Having Clark think moving into Lois’ spare room is the most natural thing in the world made me grin.  He definitely seems to want to be close to Lois.

We’ll have to see how it all plays out.

Thanks for answering my question! The further i think about it, i think clark imagining lois in Diana's costume was more of him wishing that his current girlfriend (diana) WAS lois. Diana is his gf right now, but clearly that's not who he really wants to be with. Since he was thinking about both women not too long before opening the door, you get some insight into clark's head. So you get Clark imagining Lois in her place, in her costume? Does that make sense?

That could be one way to look at it.  He sees Lois through Wonder Woman.  But also it could be he wishes Lois was super (a Silver Age throwback) - thus ending his fear for her safety.

It seems to me Lois is always the ‘goal’ for lack of a better term.  She’s his true heart’s desire.  He thought of the Kents just before thinking of Lois opening the door and greeting him with a kiss.  He knew it was Lois, no matter what she was wearing. Some part of him associates Lois with home, family, definitely best friends.

Another thing: Jonathan wonders when Clark will be moving into the spare room.  This tells me that even Jonathan knows Clark is the third person in the room when Jon is with Lois. We see that in Superman #1 where Lois talked constantly about Clark to Jonathan.

Diana seems to be the only one who hasn’t seen the bond that Clark and Lois have.  Maybe she’s not supposed to yet.  But the three other people in the rectangle definitely know it exists.

Anonymous asked:

i'm seeing mixed reactions regarding superman 19. what are your thoughts?

*** SPOILERAGE ***

Tentatively, I liked it. Could they still pull the rug out from under Superman/Lois/Clark fans in the name of the Trinity War – sure.  Will they?  Only time will tell.   We have the Man of Steel movie to look forward to – and there will be comparisons (and many more people going to the film than reading the comic books).  If DC Comics is ‘wise’ (cough), then the brilliant thing to do is feed into that excitement of the people who leave the theater and want more of what is in the movie.

The red sun army was in the original solicitation for this issue.  But then it was reduced to who is powerful enough to turn Wonder Woman against Superman?  I still say that’s Lois.  But it will probably be Hammond since his psionic powers will bring the ‘dirty little secrets’ of thoughts and desires to the forefront.  Which in the long run seems to be the same thing.  Clark definitely thinks about Lois. Whammy or no whammy.

Also I find the Red Sun Queen a bit redundant since we’ll be getting the HIVE queen in two issues from now.  She’s apparently a sicko.  Quelle surpise!

Found Clark very sexy (Rocquefort does do smexy Clark well) changing clothes and thinking of Lois. Being excited he’s invited to her housewarming.  But it really says something that he considers Jonathan and Diana not exactly obstacles and he likes that he thinks that way.  He also misses the Kents and that may not be so disconnected from his feelings for Lois.

Clark has always liked a challenge.  Why not make him pursue Lois (as he should)?  The two year mark for this series will be #23 (that’s counting the zero issue). Trinity War ends supposedly in #24 of the initial new 52 books (played out in JL, JLA & JLD).

NOT-SO-MUCH OF AN ALERT:  Jim is still an idjit.

Poor Diana.  The fauxmance was a bad idea for both her and Clark.  Lois will always be #1 – we’ve seen it for 75 years, even giving some ‘rivals’ the same initials as hers.  Making everyone gobsmacked by Diana’s presence – a bit much, but hey, she is a demi-goddess and beautiful.  I do take heart she mentioned Steve in WW#19.  First time for her book.

Hammond has psionic and telekinetic powers which means he can dig inside the mind and come up with things/desires buried there. Powers similar to Superboy (which we found out in Lobdell’s Superboy 19 is a double helix 3-strand clone of Clark and Lois. YAY!)  Clark is a cool customer when dealing with Lex Luthor, but with Lois … not so much.  What is the opposite of cool … oh yea,  HOT for her!

We do get to see an inkling of the bond Clark and Lois have despite the fact they are dating other people.

In his mind, he sees a Wonder Woman clad female open the door – but he sees Lois beyond that.  If only in his mind, we see the first Clark and Lois kiss of the new 52.  Dirty Little Secrets, Kent?  And he may be a crappy date (towards Wonder Woman) but he’s quite the polite guest for a Lois do.  Love he bought wine for the occasion.

Lois has her own secrets.  She calls him Smallville and tells him she loves him after asking his blessing.  Clark seems to have his radar firing on all cylinders despite being psionic whammied.  He realizes something is afoot.

Like that Diana and Lois are civil, but then it was a very neutral subject. Lois is back to reporting (seen in Superman 18) and worries how she’s going to make ends meet in her luxury apartment.

Totally loved the ‘My Night With Superman’ by Lois Lane headline – Clark Kent sees his reflection in the frame and not the cape guy.  And he’s smiling.  Gimme more of dat!

Perry was a total hoot.  I truly miss Pizzy.  But we won’t be seeing much of the Daily Planet crowd, I’m afraid.  Even though Lobdell ‘loves’ Clark Kent – he doesn’t have him in the book as writing any story.  Cat is all about the blog, not Clark.  Also in Superman 18 we saw that Perry still has Clark’s desk ready at the Planet.  We’ll probably be seeing more battling alien while the Trinity War ramps up.  *notgoodsigh*

Jonathan is not without admirers. Not sure where they will go with that.  Lois is a loyal person unless she finds out about cheating or some other untruth of feeling.  Apparently Jonathan is fastidious about his things – not sure how’s that going to work out with Lois.  LOL

Oh yea, loved that it was Clark’s leaving the Planet that made Lois realize what producing was doing to her life and career.  It shows how they influence each other.  He basically left the Planet because he found out Lois was moving in with Jonathan and they didn’t seem to be any real news or Lois to hang around for.

Have to agree that Lois asking Clark to make out was … he really considered it even though it was ‘rude’ and he knew people (including him) were not quite acting like their usual societal masked selves.

I don’t think Diana was totally unaffected by Hammond’s powers.  She wants to get Clark outside to make out on Lois’ fire escape, no less.  They do have a thing for buildings.  Was that her way of marking her territory?  I say that because of the ‘you should shutup and kiss me’ line.  (that’s a Clark and Lois thing – little perturbed Lobdell had Diana say it.  But they did get together over a kiss while feeling lonely and alienated so there’s that.)  And she thinks Superman is a bit stuffy?  So he hasn’t shown his sense of humor while wearing the armor?  Interesting.  Not yourself with her, Clark?

So instead of immediately lip locking (thank you!!!) Clark is apologizing (crappy date) and trying to explain everyone’s behavior.  Diana is thrilled they get to meet each other’s family and friends.  As I recall when Clark met some of her family – he got attacked by Sirens and Eros.  Apparently Diana is a crappy date, too.  She really needs Steve.

If anyone deserves a kiss, it’s Orion.  Pulling Clark from getting smooched on Lois’ fire escape by the wrong woman was sublime.

Orion is on a mission – he’s just not certain of the target apparently.  Oh well, they’ll fight it out in the next issue.  *yawn*

Lobdell said during the #LoisLane75years tweetathon that Lois would have 75% of the spotlight in the Superman Annual #2.  AND he changed his twitter avy to Lois Lane.  Interesting.  Not sure what that means.  But you might remember, it was Clark Kent thinking of Lois Lane in the Superman Annual #1, plotted by Lobdell.  We had to wait a lonnnggg time before we saw him thinking of her again.
