LOVE & LIVE in HIS PURPOSE
I saw this pic on my dash this morning.  Lois gave Clark something that perhaps he didn’t realize he needed.  A way to express his feelings, writing in a diary.
He was a writer at the school paper so it wasn’t a stretch to believe it was one of his expressive outlets.  During the years he was learning to express himself and perhaps even expected to express himself through his abilities, it probably didn’t satisfy him emotionally or creatively.
But here was this girl that he connected with immediately, somewhat to his consternation because it couldn’t be explained other than … he was going with his gut and his heart.  There was just something about her that made him feel differently than in the recent past.  Feel more.  Able to express himself freely.  No fear.  He could say anything to her (and did) and she just gave as good as he dished out.
And now she was giving him a means to express himself in the same fashion.  Without fear.  Without her presence.  No strings attached.  He could do it for himself now.  She gave that to him so he could express himself in a way he was comfortable.  To allow him introspection between the times of hectic action.  To be creative without the heavy blanket of life or death consequences.
No one had given him such a gift.  Just this girl, who he told others was bossy, stuck up and rude.  But at the same time, she pegged him perfectly.  She saw immediately the duality he was living — and yet, she treated him like anyone else.  Normal.  He didn’t have to jump through hoops or search for the Holy Grail with her.  She was his compass.  Her total acceptance was a gift of normalcy and yet, he was extraordinary.
(Later we can talk about how Clark truly never wanted Lois to think of him as an ordinary farm boy — on red K he did everything possible to impress her with his unique gifts.  With her, he felt he could fly.  See CRIMSON)
